This block is considered to be most common near bedrock; however not proven. Its rarity makes it scarcer than both Diamonds and Uranium. It can be collected with an iron pickaxe or higher. Eloraam (RedPower 2's creator) has indicated that Tungsten will have a use in a future update of the mod. Because of its rarity, it was previously used as a material for Condensors, but as of Tekkit Lite, they have no use whatsoever.
- In reality, Tungsten is extremely hard with an array of interesting physical properties. A density nearly twice that of lead and the highest melting point of any pure metal (3422°C (6192 F) and second highest of the periodic table (carbon being the highest at 3500 C (6400 F). Tungsten is used for making the filiment in light bulbs because of this. Also, because of its notable hardness it is alloyed with steel to make it harder, and Tungsten-Carbide alloy tool bits are also used in machine tooling of hard materials, such as alloys, and steels because of their incredible strength.
- Another use of Tungsten is in agriculture (farming).
- "Tungsten" comes from the two Swedish words, "Tung" and "Sten", which translates to heavy stone. On the periodic table it is represented with W which stands for the german word "Wolfram" (pronounced volf-rom) meaning wolf metal.
