The Macerator is an Industrial Craft 2 machine. Its main purpose is to increase the output of various ores and raw items, such as Bones and Blaze Rods. Every ore block placed in the Macerator becomes two Dust of that kind of ore, which can then be smelted into two ingots, thereby doubling your ore output.
The Macerator is a Low Voltage machine and can only accept 32 EU/t. If one wishes to connect the Macerator to the MFE, MFSU, or any of the Medium and High Voltage generators, a Transformer Upgrade is required.
In addition to ores, the Macerator can also be used to convert Stone into Cobblestone, Cobblestone into Sand, Gravel into Flint, and increase the amount of material received from Bones and Blaze Rods. One will receive three Bone Meal from crafting a Bone, but five when placed in a Macerator. Nether Ores are also fully compatible with the Macerator, and produce even more of the material, oftentimes four Dust from one Nether Ore block. The Macerator is also required for creating Coal Dust, a key component of Solar Panels and Nano Armor.
The Macerator's GUI resembles the vanilla Furnace's GUI. Power sources, such as the RE-Battery, can be placed in the bottom slot, while the items to be processed are placed in the top slot.
Like most of Industrial Craft 2's machines, four upgrade slots are available on the right side of the GUI. The Overclocker Upgrade can speed up the Macerator's operation at the cost of drawing more power, the Transformer Upgrade allows the use of Medium and High Voltage energy sources, such as the MFE, the Medium Voltage Solar Array, or the Energy Crystal, and the Energy Storage Upgrade allows the Macerator to buffer more EU in its internal memory storage, allowing it to run longer without being powered.
